Production Team Leader

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual to join a world leader in the metal stamping, electroplating, injection molding and assembly industries. The Operations Manager is designated as a critical impact role to lead all Manufacturing and Operations for the IEP East Providence, Rhode Island facility.

The Operations Manager is a key member of the Leadership Team and will collaborate with company leaders to set strategy, define targets and ultimately drive operational performance to meet organizational goals. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, performance and evaluation of all production activities across all three shifts and seven days per week.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership to implement the company safety program and achieve safety goals.
  • Interface with all departments to ensure proper scheduling of plant equipment and employees to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop, implement and drive continuous improvement strategies in technology. Quality, equipment and environment.
  • Recommend and justify purchase of new technology or equipment necessary to improve overall plant productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to lower operational costs.
  • Ensure inventory processes at the shop floor level are developed and maintained to drive a high level of accuracy.
  • Ensure the ERP program is leveraged to drive business and is utilized properly by all participating employees.
  • Implement and lead lean manufacturing programs and processes.
  • Participate in customer visits and audits, completion of surveys etc. in support of sales and growth efforts.
  • Assist in the implementation of a TPM program.
  • Reduce downtime of production and support equipment.
  • Ensure on time delivery requirements are met.
  • Champion ongoing operational improvements and support efforts to transition from a corrective to a preventive culture.
  • Support and maintain the ISO & IATF 16949 standards.
  • Work closely with program delivery teams to ensure new product launch dates are met.
  • Ensure environmental requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain a culture that recognizes employee contribution and encourages participation in improving the performance and success of the company

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in Business or Engineering from accredited four-year college or technical school.
  • A minimum five years of direct supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Assertive self-starter who is able to motivate others.
  • Strong leader who is able to make decisions, but also comfortable delegating decision making where appropriate.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with good manufacturing practices and quality initiatives/programs.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP or other integrated scheduling software systems. SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop, foster, and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
  • Demonstrated LEAN manufacturing skills. Prefer green belt or black belt.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts manufacturing methods.
